Australia Plans to Reclaim the Life Before COVID-19 in Three Steps
As things are falling into place for Australia amid COVID-19, Australian Prime Minister, Mr Scott Morrison, on 08 May 2020, disclosed a three-staged plan to restore the life and economy of the country and it looks like there is a ray of hope for the restaurants and cafes.
Because each state of the country is hit differently by the virus, each territory will move through the stages at their own pace.
Below is the disclosure of what each stage includes:
Stage One
The first stage is designed to resume the great bond between family and friends.
The government authorities have decided to extend the two people max regulation to 10 people’s gathering at a place and five visitors within homes.
Celebrations like weddings and birthdays can have up to 10 guests including the celebrant, couple and birthday boy/girl, respectively. Funerals may have up to 50 attendees, parted as 20 mourners indoor and 30 outdoors. The religious gathering may have up to 10 attendees.
All the gathering, be it for a personal reason like weddings, funerals or religious reasons, must record the contact details.
During the first stage, the work from home regime remains the same where possible.
The citizens of the country will be encouraged to engage in retail shopping as long as the store follows the social distancing guidelines.
The dine-in businesses like restaurants and cafes will be allowed to welcome 10 customers as long, following the distancing guidelines.

Stage Two
The stage is designed for the reopening of the small and medium-sized businesses, needless to say, following the hygiene amid COVID-19 and social distancing.
Stage two is the enhancement of stage one, where at max 20 people will be allowed to meet at a place.
The people of the nation will be able to take part in social, entertainment and fitness activities like gyming, cinemas, theatres, amusement park, galleries, museums and interstate travel under conditions.
At max, 20 people will be allowed to engage in outdoor sports at a place and pools will be functional for a limited number of swimmers only.
Moreover, Caravan parks and camping grounds will remain completely open for the citizens.
Just like stage one, in stage two as well, the individuals will be encouraged to work from home where applicable.
Stage Three
The final stage is mainly focused on encouraging Australians to return to their work.
The outdoor gathering will be extended to 100 people at a time. Both child care centres, NGOs and schools will resume their work as per the individuals’ state and territory guidelines.
Wherever possible, the territory education and universities will be encouraged for face-to-face teaching.
Adhering to the 1.5metre distance rule, restaurants, pubs and cafes will be able to seat up to up to 100 customers under one roof.
All interstate travel will be resumed and the “trans-Tasman travel bubble” will be observed more seriously, as will travel all around the Pacific.
To ensure that all is working fine for ‘reclaim the normal’ mission, the National Cabinet will meet with the respective authorities to verify and discuss the next phase based on the infection rate in the country.
