The Australian government is slowly and steadily uplifting lockdown restrictions as the country and the citizens are doing fine following the new regulations for a COVID-safe environment.

For the hospitality industry, as per the new rules, now up to 50 patrons can dine in and at max, a group of 10 people can pre-book seating at a restaurant, bar or cafe for small celebrations. Moreover, about 50 guests can attend a wedding ceremony including couples and max 20 people can gather for a funeral ceremony. These rules vary state by state as per the situation amid COVID-19.

VIC government on 26 May 2020 have released guidelines for the hospitality industry concerning COVID-safe environment to assist eatery businesses like restaurants, bars, cafes, pubs and other food and drink facilities to reinstate their businesses through in -house dining services from 1 June, for up to 20 patrons.

● Reorganise your place following the physical distancing guidelines i.e. four square metre distance per person and replan your seating arrangement to keep two neighbouring tables 1.5 metres apart.

● Educate and train your staff with quality hygiene procedures and physical distancing measures. Besides, display wayfinding signage, hygiene guidelines, physical distancing rules to encourage and guide everyone to stay safe.

● Motivate your staff to complete the online COVID training authorised by the Victorian Government, including ensuring that at least one staff at a premises has completed the training and learned the guidelines suggested.

● Introduce your staff to the technology and ask them to maintain an excel sheet of all the visitors visiting the premises (name, contact number, date and time of visit) including customers, suppliers, maintenance workers to ease the contact tracing.

PS: It is advised to keep the data for a minimum of 28 days after the visit.
